Greetings, the lovely people of PottersWorld.

No one needs reminding that things are more than a bit tense in the real world at the moment, and for that reason, the staff of PW want to make this space even more safe and stress-free as humanly possible. Now more than ever, it's important that we are sympathetic to the needs of all members and staff alike - whether they want to distract themselves by throwing themselves completely into a fictional world or have to take a break to look after themselves. Things might be slower, PCs and PMs might take longer, but it's all in the spirit of self-care. We're in this together, and as governments impose more restrictions... we're temporarily getting rid of some of ours. Watch this space over the coming weeks as things change in different areas (not just for adults), and if you have any concerns about anything, please PM a staff member. We're here to help, we're humans too. Stay safe, we love you.

Term 135 - All Shop, Ministry, and St Mungo's work requirements are lifted. Visit your employee area announcements for specifics (your head will have more information posted soon).

(Info regarding shutdown will also be out soon).

Something to look forward too...

We are please to announce a change in Internships with the launch of the Hogwarts Internship Program. This program will be replacing the Ministry Internships and will be open to all work areas of the board! That's right, now everyone gets to join in the fun. The program will offer students and mentors the opportunity to work more closely together with meetings, projects and even visits to prospective work places. For those who complete the program there's also a chance to earn Cornswin credits.

For more information on the running of the program and what it involves please check out the handbook here. Sign ups are open for next term here for interested students who meet the respective age requirements.

What would a internship program be without it's Mentors? We very much hope the working characters of PW will get behind the program and help our eager young interns learn all they can. A call for mentor volunteers will be posted next term.

Hope you enjoy this new phase of Internships and if you have any questions please PM me.

Hello everyone!

As promised we would like to update you with what is happening in regards to shutdown.

Unfortunately, there are some things that cannot wait for the next shutdown for the staff to do, so shutdown will be taking place as scheduled on the Calendar. We know that a number of you were hoping for the board to remain open this coming week and that is why this shutdown is not going to be your typical shutdown. The staff has a bit of a surprise in store for those of you that wish the board to remain open. However, as mentioned before, there are some things the staff have to do over this shutdown, so the schedule for the upcoming week will be as followed:

Saturday March 28th, 9 PM GMT - Monday March 30th, 9 PM GMT --- These days will be more along the lines of a typical shutdown. The board will be completely offline while the staff work on some behind the scenes stuff that needs to be done. Promotions will take place during this time as well as a general board clean up. Any threads that has a last post of September 28, 2019 will be removed, so if you wish to save threads you'll want to do so before the board closes this Saturday.

Monday March 30th, 9 PM GMT - Saturday April 4th, 9 PM GMT --- The board will be reopened to members in a limited capacity. There will be a small event during this period of time. It will be a festival of sorts, but full details will not be revealed until the special events forum becomes visible to you when the board reopens. However, during this time, no other forums will be visible to you for your characters to post in. Students and Adults may attend this special event. However, there is no expectation or requirement for members to do so.

This period will be treated like a normal shutdown in regards to spam dates, meaning that all spam dates will be extended by a period of a week (7 days).  So if the last post in the thread was March 17th before the board closes, it becomes April 24th with the new spam date. You will be free to resume regular posting once registration begins on Saturday April 4th, 9 PM GMT

So, if you need an outlet this coming week, please come see us at the festival, but if you need a break and want to take advantage of not having any requirements, please do so. The staff fully supports the self-care of all it's members and wishes everyone a lovely shutdown.

See you when the board returns!

Hello everyone!

Welcome back from our brief offline experience. As promised, the staff has a special event in store for you. Have you figured out what it is? If you guessed 'Flobberpallooza' then you guessed correctly!

Just kidding :birgits_giggle:

The real event that students and adults alike are invited to attend is the Spring Equinox Flower Festival! More information on the event can be found in this WWN Broadcast which has been posted in the event forum. Remember that attendance to the festival is by no means mandatory but you are more than welcome to come and check it out if you are interested. If you choose to attend, please be sure to read the Rules  for this event before posting anywhere, and if you have any questions be sure to direct them to the Questions thread pinned in this festival forum.

We understand the board probably looks strange, but that is OKAY. It is what it is meant to look like since we have returned in an extremely limited capacity for the event. You should not be able to see or post in any forums that isn't in the the "Welcome to Potter's World - PW 135" forum. If you can, please PM myself or another admin so we can look in to it. The only exception to this are those with Graduate tags, you should be able to see your forum in case you wish to post your adult world application early (though it may not get processed until just before registration starts depending on staff availability to process them).

If you have any other questions that are not related to the event between now and before the board returns for registration please feel free to PM a member of the staff, but remember that we are technically still in shutdown so it may take longer for members of the staff to reply to you.

Have fun in the flobber mucus rain! Kidding (or am I?)

Also, keep an eye out on this thread as the staff may have more surprises in store for you later on ;)

[unfinished business]

Hi! Did you know you can now download threads? Well, now you do!

How to download threads to PDF/Google Docs:

Available on PW Grey skin (coming soon to PW Purple and PW Default!!!)

1.  Go to the 'print' option in your browser. You may use ctrl+P on all browsers. On Google chrome, you can go to the top right corner and click on the 3 little dots. This will bring up a drop down list. Select 'print'. Don't worry; we're not actually printing anything (unless you want to!)

2. Within the print dialog box, you should see the print preview. This print preview has been made printer friendly and removes all graphics/side panels/etc. On the right side, you should see a drop down list for 'Destination'. Click on the drop down list. You will see your printer listed, and you will also see 'save to PDF' and 'save to Google Drive'. Select the option that works best for you.

And that's it!

Special thanks to Elena Pozniak for formatting this for us!

Freebie Term

With the uncertain situation continuing in the world at the moment we are committed to making PW as stress free as possible. That means for this term you can post as little or as much as you like with,

  • A freebie term for the three work areas
  • Dropping student promotion requirements, 2nd to 7th years will only require ten posts instead of 20 in order to be promoted, 1st years 40 posts.
  • Several other areas of the board will also be dropping requirements for the term in different ways so be sure to look out for announcements in these areas.

Everything should now be back where it was after our half shutdown if you notice you can't see something you should be able to see or if you are seeing something you shouldn't please let a staff member know.

Have a great term everyone!

Just a quick announcement to say that as of 137, PW requirements and activities will be returning to normal (aka, no lingering freebies this term). If you have any concerns about your ability to fulfil your requirements, please PM your area head directly so that you can discuss options (we don't bite - not even Fang, most of the time). We hope that you are all still keeping safe and healthy! :wizard:
